Joondalup Health Campus one of Australia’s largest health campuses following completion of expansion projects
May 20, 2026
Sixty new public medical and surgical beds have opened at Joondalup Health Campus marking the final milestone of the $307.9 million public expansion.
The expansion of JHC, jointly funded by the State and Australian Governments has boosted capacity to care for residents in Perth’s growing northern corridor.
Facilities delivered through the public expansion, which began in 2021, include more emergency department beds, new inpatient beds for medical, surgical, mental health, and cardiac patients, a new theatre, two new interventional catheterisation laboratories, expanded pre and post-operative facilities, a new discharge lounge, additional parking, and expanded supporting facilities.
Combined with the $166 million expansion of Ramsay Private at Joondalup Health Campus, which was funded by Ramsay Health Care and opened in February 2026, the site is now one of the largest health campuses in Australia.
RHC Operations Manager (WA) Dr James Cafaro said he was proud that the public expansion of JHC was completed on budget and ahead of schedule in partnership with the State and Australian Governments.
“Ramsay is committed to ensuring it is well placed to care for its Joondalup Health Campus community and this expansion has greatly increased capacity for those living in our northern suburbs.
“The 60 new beds, comprising 30 medical beds and 30 surgical beds in two new wards, have begun admitting patients to help provide increased system-wide capacity this winter,” said Dr Cafaro.
“We are extremely proud of the outstanding partnership with government that made the development possible and we are grateful to our staff who have skillfully contributed to the design, construction, and commissioning of all the new services,” he said.
