New chemotherapy service brings world class private cancer care to Glengarry Private Hospital

October 08, 2025

A recently opened rapid-access, state-of-the-art infusion suite at Glengarry Private Hospital (Glengarry) means residents in Perth’s northern suburbs will now have access to world class private cancer care at their doorsteps.

The newly established $3.2 million Waratah Infusion Suite is purpose-built, modern, filled with natural light, and welcoming to enhance patient comfort and healing.

Glengarry Chief Executive Officer, Steve Cohen-Jones, said the opening of the inaugural chemotherapy service represents a significant development for the community, and for the hospital.

“While Glengarry Private Hospital has been serving the local community for almost 50 years now, this is the first time we have offered chemotherapy,” Mr Cohen-Jones said.

“Some of Australia’s top oncologists, led by pioneer and leader in innovative cancer care, Dr Andrew Dean, have joined us, giving locals access to leading-edge medical oncology treatments. Time is of the essence when it comes to treating cancer and our rapid-access service enables GPs to refer newly diagnosed patients for a same day or next day oncologist consult.

“Glengarry, in collaboration with sister site Hollywood Private Hospital, also has highly skilled nursing, allied health, support staff and volunteers who bring in-depth knowledge of cancer care and chemotherapy.

“Together, the doctors, staff and volunteers form a first-class team - experts in their field who bring with them skill, experience, compassion and understanding,” Mr Cohen-Jones said.

Previously, many oncology patients residing in Perth’s north would need to travel to the city for private chemotherapy.

Cancer care often involves multiple appointments, ongoing treatments, and regular hospital visits, which can be physically and emotionally demanding.

Being treated close to home eases the burden of travel, helps patients stay connected to their loved ones and support networks, and can make a meaningful difference to both the experience and outcomes of care.

Mr Cohen-Jones said with cancer rates on the rise, oncology was a priority area for Ramsay.

“Ramsay is aiming to improve patient outcomes through high quality care, expanding access to oncology services and pushing the boundaries in new treatments and research,” Mr Cohen-Jones said.

“With oncologists available on-site every weekday, patients can be assured of rapid, expert care when they need it most.”

Mr Cohen-Jones said he was optimistic that Glengarry would join Ramsay’s other 21 sites running cancer clinical trials.

Ramsay Health Care has a long history of caring for Australians with cancer and is the largest private provider of oncology services in the country.

Across more than 50 of Ramsay’s facilities in Australia, we care for more than 50,000 cancer patients each year.

Glengarry provides free, accessible on-site parking.
