Ramsay Health Care submission to Private Health Reform Consultation Paper 1

Ramsay Health Care has submitted a response to the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing’s Private Health Sector Reform Consultation Paper 1. This paper was the first in a series of consultation processes anticipated over the next few months.
The consultation paper included proposed reforms across two key areas:
- Prioritising contemporary models of care
- Delivering better value for consumers.
Many of the ideas proposed were first raised through the Private Health CEO Forum, where Ramsay joined with other sector stakeholders to discuss the future of the sector, and represent practical initiatives aimed at alleviating acute pressures on private hospitals and supporting patient choice.
Feedback provided through the consultation process will inform departmental advice to government for consideration in a future budget process, with the majority of reforms expected to commence from 1 April 2027.
Ramsay welcomes the release of this paper and we look forward to working with the Department to drive meaningful change through practical policy reforms.
