IAOCR is proud to announce that Ramsay Research and Development Network (RRDN), part of Australia’s largest private hospital operator Ramsay Health Care, has been awarded the GCSA Global Quality Standard for Clinical Research Sites. This milestone achievement underscores Ramsay Health Care’s commitment to evidencing and maintaining the highest quality standards in clinical research.
With more than 25 site locations across Australia, RRDN is already a leader in delivering exceptional healthcare and clinical research. By achieving GCSA Site Certification, which aligns with the principles of ICH GCP E6(R3) RRDN is formally demonstrating its commitment to ensuring that their clinical trial sites operate effectively, with streamlined operations that reduce unnecessary burden on site staff and participants; and make sites easy and attractive to work with. The certification, awarded by the International Accrediting Organization for Clinical Research (IAOCR), provides sponsors, participants, and research partners with confidence in their capabilities.
Nicola Ware, Director, Research and Development, Ramsay Health Care explained: “Pursuing GCSA Certification has been a highly collaborative and affirming experience for Ramsay Research & Development Network (RRDN), reinforcing the strength of our existing clinical research practices while providing a globally benchmarked framework to further elevate quality, consistency, and participant outcomes. For RRDN, this represents not just validation of our capability to deliver world-class trials, but a meaningful step forward in shaping a more aligned, high-performing research environment across the industry.”
RRDN’s GCSA Site Certification reflects a strategic commitment to embedding excellence across Ramsay’s business and workforce operations. It further positions Ramsay as a global leader in advancing global clinical research site standards. By achieving the Certification, Ramsay joins the GCSA certified site community – the world’s largest network of independently certified clinical research sites.
GCSA is the world’s only internationally recognised quality standard designed specifically for clinical research sites. It was developed in direct response to industry demand for a framework that evaluates sites from a business and partner perspective. GCSA Certification recognises sites that have intentionally progressed beyond checklist compliance and are demonstrating a mature, scalable research environment aligned with ICH GCP E6(R3) principles. This includes reliable operational delivery, robust governance, strong workforce capability, sustainable quality systems, and sponsor readiness. Sites that achieve GCSA Certification reinforce their position as trusted global partners and preferred providers for the delivery of high-quality clinical research aligned with globally recognised standards.
Jacqueline Johnson North, CEO of IAOCR, added: “RRDN’s GCSA Certification demonstrates a clear commitment to quality and their desire to be a partner of choice for clinical trials. Achieving the standard evidenced that RRDN’s values of strong relationships, continuous improvement, and sustainable growth, are truly living and breathing as part of “The Ramsay Way”. Ramsay Health Care is positioning itself at the forefront of global site excellence - strengthening sponsor confidence, enhancing participant experience, and reinforcing its reputation as a trusted global partner of choice in clinical research.”
The GCSA Global Quality Standard for Clinical Research Sites was developed by the International Accrediting Organization for Clinical Research (IAOCR) in close consultation with a Global Advisory Board including key stakeholders from sponsors, CROs, commercial and public health research sites, and government organisations. The standard assesses seven core business operational areas identified by Sponsors and CROs as critical to the successful delivery of high-quality clinical trials: Feasibility; Study Start-up & Initiation; Participant Engagement; Study Management, Operations & Close-down; Governance and Leadership; Business Strategy and Growth and Workforce Quality.
The GCSA Certification journey is a collaborative and structured review, assessment and gap analysis process that helps clinical research sites demonstrate:
As expectations evolve within the industry, GCSA provides sites with a structured yet flexible framework to strengthen performance and embed modern ICH-GCP principles into everyday site operations across the full clinical trial lifecycle and evidence commitment to continual improvement.
