Officially opening on September 22, the $28 million redevelopment includes 13 new inpatient beds, two new integrated operating theatres, bringing the total number to nine, an expanded recovery area, a dedicated pre-admission unit and 22 additional car spaces. 

Strathfield Private Hospital CEO Rowann O’Mullane said the expansion coincided with the hospital celebrating 35 years of providing cardiac care, building on its long history of specialist healthcare in the Inner West.

“For 35 years, our cardiac teams have cared for generations of local patients, and this expansion puts us in a strong position to continue growing the care we provide,” Ms O’Mullane said.

“This is an opportunity to celebrate the expansion and recognise the generations of clinicians who have helped establish Strathfield Private Hospital as a trusted, leading health care provider, particularly around providing rapid access services for breast and lung cancer patients,” she said. 

Strathfield Private Hospital has been part of Ramsay Health Care since 2005, with Ramsay Health Care Managing Director and CEO Natalie Davis saying the latest redevelopment reflected Ramsay’s long-term commitment to the hospital.

“We see a strong future for Strathfield, and this investment is about making sure the hospital has the capacity to keep pace with growing community demand,” Ms Davis said.

“The new theatres, beds and supporting facilities will enable our doctors and teams to care for more patients and continue building the specialist services Strathfield is known for.”

The two new integrated operating theatres are equipped with advanced technology to support a broad range of surgical procedures. Together with the expanded recovery area and dedicated pre-admission unit, the redevelopment will enable more surgeries to be performed and more patients to receive care locally. 

The expansion builds on Strathfield Private Hospital’s established cardiac and surgical services, increasing its capacity to provide specialist care to patients from across Sydney’s Inner West and beyond.
